Sing Christmas!: Original Lyrics
Ring ev-ry bell! Sound ev-ry drum!
Tune ev-ry harp! Sound ev-ry horn!
Throw ev-ry door wide to the sun!
Sing out with joy! Sing Christmas!
Toll ev-ry bell! Be glad and sing!
Sing the great news the angels have giv’n
Share in great joy! Bless ev-ry-one!
Sing out with joy! Sing Christmas!
Earth is renewed for the Christ-child is born!
(Earth sings for the Christ-child is born!)
Hope is renewed for the Christ-child is born!
(Hope lives for the Christ-child is born!)
Faith is restored for the Christ-child is born!
(Faith lives for the Christ-child is born!)
Sing out with joy! Sing Christmas!
Sing ev-ry-one! Sing hope for the earth!
(Ding dong! Ding dong! Ding dong!)
Sing ev-ry-one! Sing peace on the earth!
(Ding dong! Ding dong! Ding dong!)
Sing ev-ry-one! Sing joy to the earth!
Sing out with joy! Sing Christmas!
(Ding dong Christmas!)
Earth is renewed for the Christ-child is born!
(Sing! Sing ding dong! Ding dong!)
Hope is renewed for the Christ-child is born!
(Ding! Dong! Sing fa-la-la!)
Faith is restored for the Christ-child is born!
(Sing! Christ-child is born!)
Sing out with joy, so sing out with joy,
So sing out with joy! Sing Christmas!
General Information
I wrote “Sing Christmas!” because I was heartily sick of the dirge-like, miserable carols that circulate year after year. I felt that the joyful festival of Christmas should be celebrated with lively, happy music that gets people smiling, grooving and dancing!
Don’t you think so?
“Sing Christmas!” is a lively, rhythmic work that is easy and quick to learn and memorize. Ideal for any sized choir as an upbeat finale to a joyful Christmas concert, or as an encore piece.
“Sing Christmas!” has been performed multiple times around the world since its release in 2010, in places as diverse as South Africa, Australia, Canada and the USA.
“Sing Christmas!” may be performed a cappella or with accompaniment of sleigh bells and hand drum.
And happy Christmas!
